Please record the dates listed below for the 4Cs meetings.  We appreciate knowing the number of people involved for planning purposes.  It looks like a great year ahead for 4Cs.

SAVE THE DATE and PLAN TO ATTEND

4Cs MAY 10 MEETING CANCELED

The Executive Committee of the 4Cs has decided to cancel the Spring Meeting scheduled for May 10. There are several reasons. The most compelling are that travel budgets of member associations are being cut and that individual members have been notifying us they are unable to attend because of scheduling conflicts. We are sorry to do this, but want to ensure well-attended and productive meetings where the benefits to you and your organization are fully realized.

SAVE THE NEW DATES:

The 4Cs Fall Meeting is scheduled for
October 4 in Sacramento.

CTC EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR TO SPEAK AT 4Cs FALL MEETING: Dale Janssen, Executive Director of the Commission on Teacher Credentialing, has graciously agreed to give a presentation at the Fall meeting on October 4 on changes in the credentialing process including updates on the numbers and types of credentials issued and projections of demand for teachers. When officials from CTC speak at 4Cs meetings, the cycle from high school graduation to college teacher training programs to school hiring driven by curricular and testing issues to new high school graduates comes alive with hard data we all can use.

PROPOSED DATES FOR LUCKY 13th ANNUAL EDUCATION SUMMIT:
FEBRUARY 27 and 28, 2009.

After the election in November and changes in legislative leadership, this should be a very interesting Summit.

If you know of conflicts with either the October 4 Fall Meeting date or with February 27 and 28 for the Summit, please email Brad Huff, 4Cs Chair, at huffhaus@pacbell.net.

Senator Tom Torlakson will be invited to speak.  It seems that Senator Torlakson plans to run for Superintendent of Public Instruction when Jack O'Connell runs for governor in 2010.
